Media Review – Brooklyn

Eilis, a young Irish woman settles in Brooklyn New York in the 1950’s leaving her family behind. She quickly falls in love with a local boy called Tony. Her world is shattered when a family tragedy takes her home to Ireland where she must choose between the two countries.

Saoirse Ronan (Little Women, Ladybird) brings the character alive with her expressive acting. There are strong friendships between the young women in the hostel which reminded me of the movie Ladies in Black. Her romance with Tony is sweet and his Italian family bring some humorous moments to the movie.

Media Review – Loving Vincent

Loving_VincentThe most breathtakingly beautiful detective story you will ever watch. This almost- biography of Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh is animated with 65,000 oil paintings! More than 100 painters in 20 countries brought it to life, and there’s genuinely nothing like it. If you have even the faintest interest in film, art, or animation, or love a good ol’ ‘whodunnit?’, Loving Vincent is unmissable.
