Brandon Sanderson writes great stories and writes them fast. This one is short novella set in a technologically advanced alternate reality where detectives can create a ‘snapshot’ of the world in order to relive a period of time and solve crimes. Davis and Chaz are interesting characters, and you might guess where the story is going, how it gets there will keep you guessing until the end! 4/5 stars

Debut Author – 5 Stars. This is a thriller that will keep you guessing from the very beginning. Just when you think you have worked out the plot it changes again. One of the best books in a very long time that I didn’t want to put down.

Peter James writes a very detailed and riveting plot that keeps you wondering throughout the book. He kept me thinking how he managed to put together such an intricate web of clues to reach an intense conclusion.

A full cast audiobook and quite enjoyable. However most of the characters irritated me so much that I was grumbling at them as I drove the car and listened. You will feel like slapping them all at some point – Be warned. The story did follow a number of well worn paths but still managed to be an engaging read. You may well be surprised at the ending – and not necessarily in the way you expected.

Written by John Connolly, this series follows former police officer turned private investigator Charlie Parker as he investigates cases with supernatural elements. Connolly’s macabre, evocative writing style lends these thrillers an element of horror.

This is the first book by this author that I have read but I don’t think it will be the last. Whilst you catch on fairly early as to WHAT has happened it is as the story unfurls that you get the details as to the HOW and the WHY – both becoming creepily apparent. A well-written book – not perfect – but well worth a read.
