A sci-fi story with the feel of a historical Middle Eastern fairy tale. Maram, a princess of two colonies is finding her public appearances more and more dangerous until she finds Amani, a local girl who could be her twin. But Amani doesn’t want to play princess, the stakes are too high.

In Orleans, Beauty is a gift. A gift that only the Belles can wield. All others in the kingdom are born “damned”, cursed to be grey. That is, unless they can afford the services of a Belle, like Camellia. Not only is she a Belle, but one of the most skilled of her generation. She wants to be chosen to work for the Queen, to be known as the Favourite. There’s one problem. Being the queen’s Belle means working on the younger princess. The same princess who is known for the horrible things she does to those around her. When the Queen asks Camellia to risk her life for the life of her elder daughter, she must make an impossible decision. This story sweeps you up and reels you in from the start. It has the feel of a modern fairytale, but will bring you to question what you believe. A true modern masterpiece!
